From the artist’s statement:
‘Contexts where the use of flesh or recognisable organic material is permitted are restricted within society, and therefore when such elements are de-contextualised they gain a somewhat dark and dangerous slant.
The use of these materials touches a nerve embedded within our society, which is protected by custom and etiquette on the subject of life and death.’
